About Luke Nguyen
Luke is a Vietnamese chef, best known as the host of television series Luke Nguyen's Vietnam and Luke Nguyen's France.
Luke Nguyen was born in 1978 in Thailand, shortly after his parents and elder siblings fled Vietnam as boat people. After spending a year in a Thai refugee camp, his family eventually settled in Sydney.
Luke's TV work includes Food Safari, Heat in the Kitchen and he also hosts his own cooking show, Luke Nguyen's Vietnam.
Following the success of Secrets of The Red Lantern which he co-wrote with Mark Jensen, Luke released his new book The Songs of Sapa - a vibrant visual essay of Luke's journey, the stories and recipes from each region, with stunning photographs bursting with colour and texture, capturing the beauty of Vietnam, her people and their deep connection with food.
In 2009 Luke and his partner Suzanna Boyd founded the Little Lantern Foundation - giving youths in Vietnam an opportunity to undertake a vocational training program that will provide them with qualifications they can apply internationally.
