Apple and raisin honey squares

Perfect with a cuppa, Rachel Allen uses Kerrygold Honey Spread as a convenient cheat for adding both honey and butter

Apple and raisin honey squares

  • 225 g self-raising flour
  • 225 g rolled oats
  • 225 g Kerrygold Honey spread
  • 225 g sugar
  • 110 g raisins
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 dessert apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped


1. Preheat the oven to 180C/160C/Gas mark 4. In a bowl, mix together the flour, oats and bicarbonate of soda. Place a saucepan on a medium-low heat, add the Kerrygold Honey Spread, sugar and golden syrup and stir together for a few minutes until melted and dissolved.

2. Remove saucepan from the heat and stir in to the flour and oat mixture. Press half the mixture in to a greased and lined square tin. Mix together the apples and raisins then sprinkle over the mixture in the tin and spread the remaining oat mixture on top.

3. Place in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes until golden, then leave to cool for a few minutes before cutting in to squares and placing on a wire rack to cool.
