Ingredients

  • 450 g wholemeal flour, , plus extra for dusting
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil

Method

1. Mix the flour and oil together in a large bowl and add just enough hot water to make a soft, pliable dough. 2. Divide the dough into lime-sized balls. 3. Coat each one lightly in flour and flatten slightly. 4. Roll out on a floured surface into very flat discs. 5. Preheat a griddle pan until very hot. 6. Place each chapati, on the griddle until the surface bubbles. 7. Turn over and cook for 20-30 seconds, pressing down lightly with a clean kitchen cloth to cook evenly. 8. Brush with ghee, if desired, and keep warm. 9. Cook all the chapatis similarly. Serve hot.
