Egg and nut-free chocolate cake

Ingredients

  • 450 g flour
  • 35 g cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 300 g caster sugar
  • 125 ml sunflower oil
  • 300 ml water
  • 20 ml vinegar

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 170C/gas mark 3. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking power and bicarbonate of soda.

2. Mix the liquids together, then add them to the solids, whisking to combine.

3. Pour into an 8 inch round cake tin and bake for 20 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
