Fried Plantains

Fried Plantains

Ingredients

  • 2 plantains, medium size, ripe
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg, grated
  • 60 ml corn oil

Method

1. Peel the plantains by scoring a line through the skin with a sharp knife without piercing the fruit. Peel the skin off sideways instead of along the length and discard. Slice the plantains into thin rounds.


2. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan, and cook the plantains on both sides, until golden brown. This should take about 2 minutes on each side. Remove the slices from the pan, season with salt and pepper and grate fresh nutmeg over before serving.
