Try mulled wine with a Baltic twist, in this warming, festive tipple from Jo Pratt

Ingredients

  • 700 ml red wine
  • 1 orange, zest only
  • 2 x 4cm cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
  • 10 cardamom pods
  • 150 g granulated sugar
  • 150 ml vodka
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • small handfulwhole blanched almonds

Method

1. Place the red wine, orange zest, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and sugar in a saucepan. Heat gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

2. Strain into a clean saucepan and add the vodka.

3. Drop a few almonds and a few raisins into heatproof glasses or mugs and ladle in the glogg and serve piping hot.
