Hot Mulled Cider

Ingredients

  • 1.7 litres dry still cider
  • 18 g packet coarsely ground cider spices, (cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and cloves)
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1/2 lemon, sliced
  • 2 cm piece ginger, chopped
  • 6 tsp demerara sugar
  • apples

Method

1. Mix together the cider, spices (wrapped in a piece of muslin), fruit and ginger in a heavy-based saucepan. Heat gently and simmer for 15 minutes.

2. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved.

3. Strain the cider and serve in glasses garnished with slices of apple.
