Mulled cider

Ingredients

  • 400 ml dry cider
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 100 ml water
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
  • 4 cm piece ginger, sliced

Method

1. Put all the ingredients in a large, heavy-based saucepan and heat until just under boiling point.

2. Keep warm for 5 minutes to let the spices infuse the liquid but don't let it boil!

3. Serve in mugs.
