Ingredients

  • 1 orange, halved
  • 8 cloves
  • 1 bottle everyday red wine, preferable a spicy variety
  • 1 lemon
  • 3 cm ginger, peeled
  • 1 x 4 cm cinnamon sticks
  • 500 ml orange juice
  • sugar, to taste
  • 225 ml brandy

Method

Stud the halved orange with cloves and add to a large saucepan along with all the remaining ingredients. Bring the contents of the pan to a simmer and cook over a very gentle heat for about an hour or so. Serve straight from the pan in mugs.
