- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Effort: easy
- 250 g unsalted butter, softened
- 1 nutmeg, freshly grated
Tips and Suggestions
This is a versatile flavoured butter to stir into savoury dishes such as mash, cooked spinach, carrots, use to make béchamel sauces or to fry or top fish and meats. It can also be used to make sweet pastry; to top grilled or pan-fried fruits.
1. Beat the butter with a wooden spoon until it is nicely softened and smooth, and then stir in the freshly grated nutmeg. If you fancy a stronger nutmeg flavour, add more.
2. Spoon onto a piece of cling film and twist together the sides to form a sausage shape. This can now be stored in the fridge or freezer. To serve, simply cut into slices and use as desired.
