Oat bars

Why buy oat bars when they're easy and fun to make with your kids!

Ingredients

  • 80 g butter
  • 80 g brown sugar
  • 60 g golden syrup
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 130 g porridge oats
  • 35 g dried apples, chopped
  • 35 g dried apricots, chopped
  • 25 g dried cranberries
  • 25 g pumpkin seeds
  • 2 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 25 g desiccated coconut

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180C/gas mark 4. Line and grease a 20cm square baking tin.

2. In a saucepan, melt together the butter, sugar, golden syrup, and salt. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl and stir in the butter and syrup mixture.

3. Spoon the mixture into the tin and press down with the back of a spoon to level the surface.

4. Bake for 18-20 minutes until lightly golden.

5. Store in the fridge and cut into bars before serving.
