Ingredients

  • 55 g butter
  • 55 g plain flour
  • 570 ml milk
  • 4 tbsp brandy
  • 55 g caster sugar

Method

1. Melt the butter in a saucepan and stir in the flour until smooth. Cook for 2-3 minutes, then whisk in the milk gradually to prevent any lumps forming.

2. Bring to the boil, stirring all the time, and simmer gently for ten minutes, until thickened to a sauce consistency.

3. Stir in the brandy and the sugar and serve with Christmas pudding.
