- 24 fresh chestnuts
1. With a sharp paring knife, make a slit on the rounded side of each chestnut. (This will prevent the chestnuts from exploding while cooking).
2. Place the chestnuts on a perforated pan and roast over a fire for 10-15 minutes. Alternatively cook in oven at 200C/160C fan/gas 6 for 15-20 minutes.
3. Peel charred shell and serve.
