For an indulgent treat make this Italian dessert, ideal for dinner parties since it can be made in advance

  • 150 ml strong coffee
  • 2 tbsp brandy
  • 175 g sponge fingers
  • 225 g mascarpone
  • 115 g natural yogurt
  • 115 g ricotta cheese
  • 115 g caster sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 egg whites
  • 25 g dark chocolate, grated


1. Mix together the coffee and brandy in a shallow basin. Dip half the sponge fingers into the coffee mixture and use to line a 20cm dish.

2. In a mixing bowl beat together the marscapone, yoghurt and ricotta until well-mixed. Mix in the sugar and vanilla extract. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the marscapone mixture.

3. Spread half of the marscapone mixture over the coffee-dipped sponge fingers.

4. Repeat the process with the remaining brandy coffee, sponge fingers and marscapone mixture. Sprinkle grated chocolate over the top of the tiramisu. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours.
